China to UK Ocean Freight Sailing Schedule

UK-Bound Shipping Update | 14 October 2026

This week’s priorities are checking post-holiday dispatch arrangements in China and reviewing inland transport charges where Maersk services are involved. Confirm shipment-specific dates and costs before finalising delivery plans.

Post-holiday collections and bookings

Maersk’s 7 October Europe update highlighted the adjustment period as Chinese factories resumed operations after Golden Week. For UK-bound shipments, check the supplier’s actual cargo-ready date, collection arrangements and confirmed booking rather than relying on the original production schedule. Reconfirm documentation deadlines with the booking provider and review UK delivery arrangements if departure dates change. The update does not establish a disruption at a specific UK port or a change to every China-to-UK sailing.

Check applicable Maersk inland fuel charges

On 8 October, Reuters reported a Maersk emergency fuel surcharge adjustment for inland transportation in the UK and Ireland, announced to take effect from 12 October. If your shipment uses the relevant Maersk inland service, ask the booking provider to confirm the applicable charge, calculation basis and effective date before accepting a quotation. Check whether the surcharge is already included. This is a carrier-specific pricing matter; it should not be treated as a general increase across all China-to-UK freight services.

Use the China to UK sailing schedule to plan your next shipment

Use the China to UK sailing schedule above to connect your suppliers’ cargo ready dates with collection, consolidation and UK delivery planning. For replenishment or customer orders, start with when stock is needed, then assess the complete journey against the available sailings.

A listed departure is planning information, not a booking confirmation or evidence of available space. Yunxi Freight can review your cargo, origin and destination to assess a suitable transport arrangement, subject to acceptance and booking confirmation.

Read the dates and locations together

Check the meaning of each column before instructing a supplier. Where locations are regional or deadlines are combined, obtain shipment-specific instructions.

Schedule field Meaning and action
Service or route Identifies the listed transport option. Confirm the handling and delivery scope applicable to your cargo.
Consolidation or loading location in China Shows the origin handling area; it is not necessarily the port or an authorised delivery address. Obtain warehouse instructions before dispatch.
Cut-off Check whether the entry covers documents, warehouse receipt or both. Document submission and cargo receipt are separate requirements; confirm exact times, time zone and any additional booking deadlines.
ETD Estimated time of departure from the stated loading port. Supplier dispatch and warehouse receipt must be planned earlier.
Transit time Indicates the listed voyage duration. Confirm whether it covers the sea leg or another defined period; it is not automatically door-to-door time.
ETA Estimated arrival at the stated destination port. It does not confirm customs release, cargo availability or delivery.
Loading and discharge ports Identify the sea journey’s endpoints. Assess the onward journey to your final postcode.
Ocean carrier Identifies the listed shipping line. Confirm the actual service when booking.
Vessel and voyage Identify the planned sailing. Recheck after changes; a provisional vessel entry is not a confirmed allocation.

Turn a departure into a workable shipping plan

  1. Establish when goods are ready. Confirm each supplier’s actual completion date, packed dimensions, weights and documentation. Goods ready at the factory have not yet reached the consolidation warehouse.
  2. Plan collection and consolidation. Agree collection or supplier delivery instructions. For multiple suppliers, check whether all consignments can arrive, be checked and prepared before the applicable warehouse deadline.
  3. Confirm booking and operational deadlines. Review cargo acceptance, packaging, documents and the booking arrangement. Meet each applicable cut-off, including any separate container or declaration requirements communicated for the shipment.
  4. Follow departure and arrival updates. Use the latest operational information to revise expectations if the vessel, routing or port call changes. Allow shipment-specific contingency across collection, handling and sea transport.
  5. Plan UK release and delivery. Allow for import formalities, discharge, cargo availability, deconsolidation where applicable and onward transport. Confirm receiving hours, access, appointments and any tail-lift requirement. For FBA, distinguish delivery to the fulfilment centre from Amazon receiving, processing and making stock available for sale.

Choose a sailing around the complete delivery requirement

When comparing the China UK ocean freight schedule, assess whether each option fits the goods and the required destination date. The earliest ETD alone does not establish the most suitable plan.

Compare Decision to make
Cargo readiness and cut-offs Can every supplier meet the receiving and document deadlines? Would a later departure be more realistic?
LCL or FCL Compare less-than-container-load and full-container-load arrangements against volume, packing, handling and delivery needs. Confirm availability and suitability for the shipment.
Ports and final address Consider the inland journey and postcode rather than port ETA alone.
Stock requirements Separate the preferred arrival from the date goods must be usable or available for sale.
Scope and cargo conditions Compare equivalent quoted services, including origin handling, customs arrangements and destination delivery. Identify exclusions and conditional charges.

Keep an alternative sailing under review where timing matters. Its use depends on acceptance, capacity, revised deadlines and your agreement to any cost changes.

How Yunxi Freight connects the stages

Collection and consolidation in China. Our UK-route warehouse in Dongguan and shared UK-route facilities in Yiwu support supplier handovers and consolidation. We can coordinate collection and warehouse receipt so you can assess readiness against the intended sailing. Receiving instructions and cargo acceptance must be agreed first.

Documents and UK customs coordination. We review shipping documents before dispatch and coordinate destination clearance preparation. Early checks help identify missing information before it affects subsequent arrangements; customs release remains subject to the authorities and shipment requirements.

UK warehousing and onward delivery. Our UK warehouse and delivery resources support onward arrangements to FBA facilities, third-party warehouses, commercial premises and residential addresses. The receiving location, unloading requirements and agreed service determine the plan after port arrival.

Milestone tracking and exception communication. Yunxi’s tracking arrangements cover warehouse receipt, export, international transport, clearance and delivery milestones. Updates help you reassess replenishment plans; where a delay occurs, we communicate the reported position and coordinate available next steps. Update availability depends on the relevant operation and data source.

Agree import responsibilities before shipment

DDP and DAP allocate responsibilities between seller and buyer; they are not fixed freight products. Under DDP, the seller handles import clearance and applicable duties and taxes; under DAP, these fall to the buyer. Neither automatically includes unloading. Agree the named place and service scope. [1]

DDU is a historical term, not an Incoterms® 2020 rule. If it appears in an enquiry, clarify the intended responsibilities rather than automatically treating it as DAP. [2]

Postponed VAT accounting (PVA) allows eligible UK VAT-registered businesses to account for import VAT on their VAT Return. It is not a VAT or customs duty exemption; VAT recovery follows normal rules. Its territorial scope covers imports into Great Britain from outside the UK and Northern Ireland from outside the UK and EU. [3][4]

For a proposed PVA arrangement, we can coordinate the relevant shipment information. Confirm eligibility, importer details and written declaration instructions before submission; the trade term alone does not determine these. VAT returns and accounting remain with your business and its adviser. [3]

Prepare the details for a useful freight assessment

Please provide:

  • Product description, material, use and photographs; commodity code if available.
  • Carton or pallet count, packed dimensions, gross weight and declared value.
  • Actual cargo ready date and collection address for each Chinese supplier.
  • UK delivery address and postcode, destination type and required delivery date.
  • FBA destination and shipment details where applicable; appointment, access, unloading or tail-lift requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Does a listed sailing mean space is available?

No. A schedule entry does not confirm capacity or cargo acceptance. Provide your shipment details so the relevant booking arrangement can be checked.

Is the ETA my UK delivery date?

No. ETA refers to expected port arrival. Release, cargo availability and onward delivery are separate stages. Ask for a shipment-specific estimate to your final address.

How early should I arrange collection?

Work backwards from the confirmed warehouse deadline, allowing for collection, consolidation, checks and required preparation. The necessary lead time depends on supplier locations and cargo conditions; there is no single buffer for every shipment.

Can goods from different suppliers travel together?

Yes, where cargo compatibility, receiving dates and the proposed service allow. Provide each supplier’s ready date and cargo details so we can assess consolidation or separate dispatch.

What if my goods miss the agreed cut-off?

Contact the team before sending goods to the warehouse. We can review later sailings or other available arrangements, subject to capacity, acceptance and revised charges. A later ETD does not guarantee acceptance after the original deadline.
